The DVD rental and streaming company Netflix reported last month that more of its movies and television series will be streamed online than seen on DVD during the fourth fiscal quarter. Netflix said 66 percent of its users streamed products during the third quarter compared to the 41 percent during the third quarter last year. "By every measure, we are now primarily a streaming company that also offers DVD-by-mail," Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said. Netflix compared the number of minutes streamed to the cumulative length of all DVDs shipped.
