posted on 2010-11-08 16:00 EST
Tokyo-based localization firm Katalyst Lab announced the release of Maniac Tours, a manga developed specifically for Apple's iPad device, on Saturday. The manga was drawn by Ayako Yamaguchi (Baby Ibitsu) and written by Ryosuke Oda, and Katalyst Lab released its first chapter in Japanese, English, and French.
The creators plan a total of 10 chapters for manga. The entire first chapter is free, and free sample previews will be available for subsequent chapters. Each of the later chapters in their entirety will cost US$0.99.
The story is set in the year 2045, when the oceans are full of scrap and junk. A group of "scrap surfers" dig out antiques and valuable technology from the sea.

Ed and Al get wrapped up in a multifactional conflict on Amestris's western border in this Brotherhood movie. Though it features thrilling action and a decent story, its inconsistent artistry is decidedly substandard.
Through the first few chapters, this volume of Bakuman may not seem all that impressive ... but it improves dramatically as the tension escalates in the second half.
One faction battling here, another one over there, and goodness knows when it's all going to end. If this is the current state of ninja warfare, it's going to be a long, tedious fight.
A beautiful, carefully detailed and altogether pleasant wisp of a film that does absolutely everything – from the characters' personalities to the story construction to the emotional stakes that hold the whole thing together – in miniature.
Given the repetitive nature of the content, the series would be much better had it been cut down to just the first and last episodes.
