Fairy Tail Manga's 26th Volume to Bundle Anime DVD

"Yōkoso Fairy Hills!!" short story included in anime, manga form

The official Japanese website of Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail fantasy adventure manga has confirmed on Wednesday that the 26th volume will bundle an original anime DVD when it ships on April 15, 2011. The special edition's DVD will contain the anime adaptation of the manga side story "Yōkoso Fairy Hills!!" (Welcome to Fairy Hills!)

In the story, the Fairy Tail mage guild member Lucy comes across a mysterious written request. The client is looking for an object that is in Fairy Tail's female dormitory, Fairy Hills. To verify the request, Lucy visits Fairy Hills, and discovers that the client is Hilda, the dormitory head who is looking for a "shining treasure." Meanwhile, Natsu and the other guild members are cleaning their pool. The manga's website hints that there will be an original anime scene with the characters Natsu and Gray.

Besides the DVD, the special edition of the 26th manga volume will include the original "Yōkoso Fairy Hills!!" manga side story in a separately bound booklet, as well as a strap attached to a figure of the mascot Happy (pictured at left) and an exclusive cover drawn by Mashima. (The manga short story originally appeared in Kodansha's Magazine Special and has not been published in a compiled book volume before.)

Shinji Ishihira is directing the new anime at A-1 Pictures Inc. and Satelight, just as he does for the teleivsion anime series. Similarly, the television anime's series script supervisor Masashi Sogo and character designer Aoi Yamamoto are also involved.
