Makoto Shinkai's feature film Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below (Hoshi o Ou Kodomo), recently screened at Otakon, will ship on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in Japan with English, Japanese, and Chinese subtitles.
The Blu-ray release will have both a 5,775-yen (about US$75) regular edition and a 8,715-yen (US$113) special limited-pressing edition. The limited edition features an extra disc.
Both editions include a commentary by Shinkai, interviews with him and the film's voice cast, the teaser and full trailer, television commercials, and a filmography of Shinkai. The extra disc in the limited edition includes longer interviews, a making-of documentary, and a music video (Anri Kumaki's “Hello and Goodbye”). There is no indication that any of this extra material will be subtitled in English.
The limited edition will also include a film strip, a book with a sample of the manga adaptation and a discussion between Shinkai and the manga creator, a full-color image board collection, and a booklet.
The Japanese soundtrack is in DTS-HD master audio 5.1ch and Linear PCM 2.0ch.
