My Name is Noda Manga Gets 2nd Live-Action TV Season

Noriko Eguchi, AKB48's Yuka Masuda to reprise their roles

A second live-action television season based on Aya Tsuge's My Name is Noda. (Noda to Mōshimasu.) manga has been green-lit for an October premiere. The second season will first debut on the public broadcaster NHK's digital channel 1seg 2 on October 6, and then on NHK's regular E Tele channel on October 8.

Noriko Eguchi will reprise her role of Noda, a plain woman with eyeglasses and braided hair, from the first season. The manga follows her life working part-time while studying at a university. Yuka Masuda of the all-female idol group AKB48 also returns as Noda's coworker Tomizawa. The director and assistant director from the first season will also serve in the same capacity for the second season.

The manga originally inspired a mini-series of three shorts in June 2010 as part of the Aoyama 1seg Kaihatsu collection of pilots. By a substantial margin, viewers voted the mini-series as the #1 Aoyama 1seg Kaihatsu project to expand into a full regular series, which aired from October 2010 - April 2011.

The original manga runs in Kodansha's Kiss and Kiss Plus women's manga magazines. Kodansha released the manga's third volume in February.
