News Live-Action Space Bros./Uchū Kyōdai Film to Open May 5
posted on 2011-11-26 23:54 EST
This year's 52nd issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine is announcing on Thursday that the live-action film adaptation of Chūya Koyama's Uchū Kyōdai (Space Brothers) manga will open on May 5, 2012.
Shun Oguri (Hana-Kimi, Hana Yori Dango [2005], Fullmetal Alchemist movie [2005]) and Masaki Okada (Hana-Kimi, BokuKimi, Mahō Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto) star as the title characters in this film. The British rock band Coldplay is contributing the song "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" as the theme song.
The story of the film follows two brothers, Mutta (Oguri) and Hibito (Okada), who made a vow as kids to travel to space. The younger brother Hibito did become an astronaut, but not Mutta. However, Mutta's life changes one fateful day.

Ed and Al get wrapped up in a multifactional conflict on Amestris's western border in this Brotherhood movie. Though it features thrilling action and a decent story, its inconsistent artistry is decidedly substandard.
Through the first few chapters, this volume of Bakuman may not seem all that impressive ... but it improves dramatically as the tension escalates in the second half.
One faction battling here, another one over there, and goodness knows when it's all going to end. If this is the current state of ninja warfare, it's going to be a long, tedious fight.
A beautiful, carefully detailed and altogether pleasant wisp of a film that does absolutely everything – from the characters' personalities to the story construction to the emotional stakes that hold the whole thing together – in miniature.
Incredibly innovative, immensely endearing, and above all else blissfully entertaining, FLCL is in a class by itself.
