Haruka Ayase, Naohito Fujiki return in Rome-set sequel to 2 live-action shows

The official website for Hotaru no Hikari the Movie was revamped on Saturday with the first trailer and new visual images. The trailer has the title character Hotaru (Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror, Crying Out Love in the Center of the World's Haruka Ayase) panicking because she just found out that Hotaru no Hikari is being made into a movie. Unperturbed, her love interest Seiichi Takano (20th Century Boys' Chōno, GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka's Ryuji Saejima) ponders being in Rome for the film.

The film is the sequel to the two live-action Hotaru no Hikaru television series, which in turn were based on Satoru Hiura's women's romance manga Hotaru no Hikari - It's Only Little Light in My Life. The manga follows a 27-year-old office worker Hotaru who is uninterested in love. Hotaru's situation gets complicated as she suddenly finds herself living with her boss Takano. In the film's story, Hotaru and Takano head off to Italy (highlight the following white text to read) for their honeymoon.

Hiroshi Yoshino, a director in the television version, is also directing the film. The movie will open in Japan on June 9, and theaters throughout Japan put out the trailer on Saturday, along with posters and flyers with the new visuals.
