Live-Action Akira Director Collet-Serra in Talks for Another Film

<p>The <cite>New York</cite> magazine's Vulture blog <a href="http://www.vulture.com/2012/04/collet-serra-joining-here-there-be-monsters-bradley-cooper-john-paul-jones.html" target="_blank">reported</a> on Thursday that director Jaume Collet-Serra is in negotiations for the <cite>Here There Be Monsters</cite> film from <cite class="e company"><a href="/encyclopedia/company.php?id=24470">Legendary Pictures</a></cite> and <cite class="e company">Warner Bros.</cite> Collet-Serra is the Catalonian director currently attached to direct the live-action <cite>Akira</cite> film at <cite class="e company"><a href="/encyclopedia/company.php?id=304">Warner Brothers</a></cite> with producer Leonardo DiCaprio.<p>Vulture reported that <cite>Akira</cite> in its current state was <a href="/news/2012-01-05/hollywood-reporter/live-action-akira-film-production-shut-down">considered</a> by <cite class="e company">Warner Brothers</cite> to be too costly, and that the studios' current plan is to have Collet-Serra <a href="/news/2012-02-15/live-action-akira-director-collet-serra-linked-to-other-projects">direct</a> another film called <cite>Harker</cite> first, and then <a href="/news/2012-01-05/variety/akira-down-not-out-but-new-writer-to-polish-script">return</a> to the live-action <cite>Akira</cite> project with a lower budget.<p><em>[Via <a href="http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/166645-former-akira-director-former-potential-crow-in-line-for-here-there-be-monsters" target="_blank">ShockTillYouDrop.com</a>]</em>
