Absolute Boyfriend Manga Gets Stage Play Next March

Fushigi Yûgi stage play team to adapt Yuu Watase's romance manga

A stage play adaptation of Yuu Watase's romance manga Absolute Boyfriend will debut at Tokyo's Theatre1010 in March 2013. The film and event promotion company amipro, which also produces stage play versions of Watase's Fushigi Yûgi manga, is creating the adaptation. Asuka Ami will produce the play, and Shintaro Kanno will direct.

Absolute Boyfriend already received a Japanese live-action television drama series in 2008 and a special in 2009. There has also been a Taiwanese live-action drama adaptation of Watase's romance manga, and a Korean live-action drama was slated for release this year.

In North America, Viz Media serialized the manga in Shojo Beat magazine from its premiere issue in 2005 until the manga's ending in 2007. Viz Media also added the manga series to its digital manga library iPad application.
