AKB0048 BD/DVD to Include 1st Episode's Director's Cut

The first Blu-ray Disc/DVD volume of the idol science-fiction anime AKB0048 will include a director's cut of the first episode when it ships on June 27. The first volume will also include a box for all the anime's volumes, bonus video extras, a 16-page booklet featuring interviews with voice actresses Karen Iwata (Nagisa) and Akema Kanda (Yūko), an outer sleeve illustrated by character designer Risa Ebata, and packaging illustrated by Ebata.
The first volume will have one episode, while the remaining four monthly volumes will have three episodes each. Every volume will have a 16-page booklet and an event ticket application form. (Buyers must collect the forms from all five volumes and mail them away to get a ticket for the event.) The fifth volume will also bundle a soundtrack CD.
The series began airing in Japan on April 29.
