3rd series based on Idea Factory's Hakuōki game franchise

The online media service Crunchyroll announced on Monday that it will begin streaming the Hakuōki Reimeiroku television anime series on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. EDT. The anime will be available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

The series is premiering on Monday in Japan. Sentai Filmworks announced earlier this month that it licensed the anime for North America.

The title is the third series based on Idea Factory's Hakuōki game franchise. The prequel to Hakuōki, the story takes place in 1863 as the violent uprising due to political discord disrupt Japan. The Tokugawa shoganate creates the Roshigumi, a masterless group of samurai to aid Aizu forces in Kyoto.

However, things aren't boding well for the new police force, as assassinations split the group into two opposing factions. The more powerful faction is led by Kamo Serizawa (Jouji Nakata) while the smaller faction is let by the noble-minded Kando Isami. Enter Ryūnosuke Ibuki (Tomokazu Seki): forced to participate in Serizawa's plans due a blood debt, he hopes to push Kondo to take down Serizawa.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the first Hakuōki anime in April. The Hakuōki anime franchise includes the 12-episode Hakuōki series, the 10-episode sequel series Hakuōki Hekketsu-roku, and the 6-episode Hakuōki Sekkaroku OAV series. The franchise also includes two upcoming films that will premiere in 2013.
