CW Head: "All We Did Was a Phone Call" for Battle Royale

Marc Pedowitz, the president of The CW television network, stated in an interview published on The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed blog on Monday that while the network is exploring a remake of Koushun Takami's Battle Royale novel, the project is "in development and we're not even in development" (italics from original).
Pedowitz continued, saying that "All we did was a phone call. We're not planning to do anything that we cannot get on the air," though he did also acknowledge the title as one with "a nice cult following" and as "one of the predecessors of a lot of these things we do today."
