Live-Action Space Brothers Plays in Australia

posted on by Joseph First
Festival's 16th event starts November 14

The first two films in Australia's upcoming 16th Japanese Film Festival have been announced. Both the live-action Space Brothers film, as well as a new film from director Takashi Yamazaki (Live-Action Space Battleship Yamato), Friends: Naki on the Monster Island will be screened at the event.

The live-action Space Brothers film is an adaptation of Chūya Koyama's Uchū Kyōdai (Space Brothers) manga. The story follows two brothers, Mutta (Oguri) and Hibito (Okada), who made a vow as kids to travel to space. The younger brother Hibito did become an astronaut, but not Mutta. However, Mutta's life changes one fateful day.

Australia's Japanese Film Festival will take place from November 14 to December 9. The event will be located in Sydney from November 14 to 25 and in Melbourne from November 29 to December 9. The festival will also make stops at Perth, Hobart, Canberra, Darwin, and Cairns.
