19-Year-Old Charged for Threatening AKB48 Member

Police filed charges against an unemployed 19-year-old male in Kyoto after he made allegedly posts on the Internet threatening to kill a 14-year-old member of the AKB48 idol group in June. The AKB48 member's family discovered the posts online and made a report to the police.
According to the police, the man was originally a fan of the idol, but grew upset when she did not reply to his messages of support sent via the Internet. In a statement admitting his guilt, he reportedly also said that he grew upset after seeing her converse "too much" with other male fans through her website.
