Shuho Sato allows unrestricted derivative use of manga beginning this month

Amazon's Kindle e-book store began offering Shuho Sato's 'Say Hello to Black Jack' manga in English under the title Give My Regards to Black Jack late last week. Sato had announced in April that he would make all derivative usage of the title, both commercial and non-commercial, free of restrictions for anyone as of this past Saturday, September 15.

Each of the 13 volumes cost US$2.99 in the Kindle store. The same title is also available for reading in English for free on Sato's own MangaonWeb website.

Sato, whose other works include Umizaru and The Isle of TOKKOU, has been offering his manga and other creators' titles on MangaonWeb since April of 2010. He asked for volunteer English translators later that year. He announced his plans to allow derivative use of Give My Regards to Black Jack after revealing that he cancelled his publishing contract with Kodansha for the manga.
