2 Arrested for Uploading Eureka 7 AO, Mardock Scramble via Share

posted on by Sarah Nelkin

The Yamaguchi Prefectural Police arrested two men on Friday under suspicion of using the Share file-sharing software to upload anime. The two men arrested are 40-year-old company worker Yoshikazu Hirota and 24-year-old unemployed Teruyuki Funabashi. Both men live in the same prefecture. Hirota is suspected of uploading the EUREKA SEVEN AO anime at around 10:00 p.m. on September 23. Tezuka is suspected of uploading the Mardock Scramble: The First Compression anime movie on July 15 at 10:48 p.m.

The police say that they are investigating evidence that Hirota uploaded over 600 videos. According to the police, Hirota is known among his fans on the Internet as "God," and Funabashi is known as the "Encoding Craftsman."

Security researchers have known about flaws in Share's anonymity features since 2006.
