Retelling of classic Dumas novel of prison escapee bent on vengeance

Samurai Gun creator Kazuhiro Kumagai will launch his manga series adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas novel The Count of Monte Cristo in the 11th volume of Shueisha's Grand Jump Premium magazine on October 24. Kumagai originally published the story as a one-shot in April.

Kumagai's adaptation takes place in 19th Century France during the Industrial Revolution. When a man escapes from a fortress prison, he swears violent revenge against those who put him there. Taking on the alias of The Count of Monte Cristo, the man plans to exact his vengeance.

Also premiering in the same Grand Jump Premium issue is the illustrated journal series Murakami Motoka to Aruku Ōshū/Asia 260-Nichi no Tabi (Motoka Murakami and His 260-Day Trip of Europe & Asia on Foot) by Jin creator Motoka Murakami.

ADV Films released the television anime adaptation of Samurai Gun in North America.
