News 1st Madoka Magica Film Earns US$3.9 Million in 9 Days

Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 1: Beginnings earned 50,769,700 yen (about US$642,815) its second weekend at the Japanese box office, bringing its total to 311,366,865 yen (US$3,942,340).
The film sank to the #11 spot on the October 13-14 chart after opening at #7. Box Office Mojo does not currently list the second Madoka Magica film, Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 2: Eternal. Kadokawa Shoten's MovieWalker website reported that the second film opened this past weekend at #2 with 171,622,400 yen (about US$2,180,170).
The Mystical Laws stayed in the top 10, earning 85,659,913 (US$1,084,574) yen in its second week for a total of 364,593,620 (US$4,616,266) yen earned to date.
