Gundam's New Advance of Zeta Spinoff Manga Launches

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The January issue of ASCII Media Works' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine launched a Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam spinoff manga on Tuesday. Yū Akiba is drawing the new manga, titled Advance of Zeta: Toki ni Aragaishi Mono.

The manga begins in the year UC 0079, during the One Year War of the first Gundam series and eight years before the story in Zeta Gundam. In the first chapter, a boy named Van Asiliaino and his friends attempt to flee the war, and their fates change when they meet a certain soldier.

The manga is based on Junichi Kamino's novel series of the same name that ASCII Media Works began publishing in its Dengeki Hobby Magazine in 2010. The novel series mostly takes place in UC 0085 (when Van is 18 years old) and later. ASCII Media Works published the third compiled novel of the series' second arc in September.

Tatsu Mizuki ended the earlier Advance of Zeta: The Flag of Titans manga in the same Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in 2008.
