According to the results of a survey that the think tank Media Create made public on Thursday, Nintendo sold 694,370 Wii U consoles between its first day of Japanese sales (December 8) and January 6. 308,142 were sold in the first two days, 126,916 in the week after, 122,843 in the third week, 69,386 in the fourth week starting on Christmas Eve, and 67,083 in the fifth week starting on New Year's Eve. In the same five-week period, Sony sold 245,169 PlayStation 3 consoles, and Microsoft sold 8,544 Xbox 360 consoles.
