THR: Nic Mathieu in Talks to Helm Live-Action Robotech

The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog reported that commercial director Nic Mathieu is negotiating to helm Tobey Maguire and Warner Bros.' planned Robotech live-action adaptation. According to the blog, Mathieu is known for using inventive CG effects in his commercials, but has yet to direct a feature film.

Warner Bros. and Tobey Maguire acquired the rights to produce the film in 2007. The current roster of producers includes Maguire, Akiva Goldman (I Am Legend, Jonah Hex), Matthew Plouffe, Joby Harold (All You Need Is Kill), and Tory Tunnell (Awake, The War Within).
