The crowdfunding and streaming service Anime Sols announced on Monday that it will take pledges for DVD sets of the television anime of Osamu Tezuka's Black Jack manga. The series was released on individual DVDs in Japan, but not in a box set.

The original Black Jack television series ran for 61 episodes in 2004. The series follows a black-market doctor and his assistant Pinoko as they perform dangerous operations around the world. The original manga spawned two television anime series, several movies, and specials.

Crunchyroll and Viki also stream the episodes in North America and the United Kingdom.

Black Jack joins Anime Sols' starting lineup which includes the original Yatterman television anime and its 2008 remake, Tezuka's Aoi Blink television anime and Marine Express, Fumoon, and Bander Book films, Tekkaman, the Space Knight, and Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel.

Japan's Yomiuri Group announced this crowdsourcing venture with anime studios Pierrot, Tezuka Productions, and Tatsunoko Productions in November. The program is currently in beta.
