Kodansha USA to Speed Up Attack on Titan Manga Releases

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Company to release 1 volume/month starting in August

Kodansha Comics announced at Anime Expo on Saturday that starting in August, it will speed up its releases for Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga. Kodansha Comics will release one volume each month for the rest of the year. The company will release the series in North America in print and digital formats at the same time.

Kodansha Comics announced in October 2011 that it had licensed the manga, which follows the life of humans after giants suddenly appear and take over the entire world. To keep out these invading Titans who eat humans for food, the humans erect huge walls — but at the cost of their freedom in the outside world. Kodansha Comics released the fifth volume in North America in June.

Isayama launched the manga in Japan in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009, and Kodansha released the 10th volume in Japan in April.

Wit Studio's anime adaptation of the manga premiered in April, and Funimation and Crunchyroll are both streaming the series as it airs.

Update: Kodansha announced ebooks for Nook, Kindle, Google Play, and Apple's iBookstore on July 16.
