Nigel Sturman, 27, of Aslacton, England was sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty in May of four counts of sexual activity with teenage victims. Sturman was head of a club called the Society of Anime and Manga and ran a Dungeons and Dragons campaign, both which met in Norfolk.
Three victims were under the age of 16 at the time of the abuse. Impact statements handed to the court during sentencing stated that all the victims were deeply impacted by the abuse and one suffered from nightmares.
The court required Sturman to submit to a sexual offences prevention order which requires him to register as a sex offender and bans him from having unsupervised contact with anyone under 16. The judge deemed Sturman a "high-risk" who was targeting young girls.
Sturman denied the charges. An unverified Facebook account under the name "Nigel Captin-anime Sturman" was updated on Wednesday, stating:
im not going to be around for a bit i just want pipel to know il be back soon and more info will be put out soon... and that i hope pipel know me well anouth to not belive what overs say about me.
He was cleared of two further charges of sexual activity against one of the girls.
