Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn's Open Beta Dates Announced

Square Enix announced on Thursday that that the open beta test for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will run from August 17 through 19 on Windows PC and PlayStation 3. Players that pre-order the game will be able to access it early on August 24, and the game will ship on August 27.
In addition, producer and director Naoki Yoshida has announced several incentives for players, including bonuses based on the length of subscription, a free companion iOS app "Final Fantasy XIV: Libra Eorzea" that will arrive a week after the launch, and a "welcome back campaign" that lets Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 users play Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for free until September 9.
Square Enix released Final Fantasy XIV Online for personal computers in September 2010. After criticism from fans, the company revealed an updated version of the game titled Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn that adds a new world and story. The game is also planned for PlayStation 4 in 2014.
