Peace Maker Kurogane Manga to Resume in December

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Nanae Chrono's manga follows boy seeking revenge for parents in age before Meiji Restoration

The September issue of Mag Garden's Beat's online manga reader announced on Wednesday that Nanae Chrono will resume the serialization of her Peacemaker Kurogane manga in December.

The story began with protagonist Tetsunosuke Ichimura as he works under The Shinsen-gumi's Hijikata Toshizō right before the Meiji Restoration. He seeks strength in order to avenge his parents' after their death by a Chōshū rebel.

Chrono had begun the story under the title Shinsengumi Imon Peace Maker in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in 1999. Tokyopop released the entire first Peace Maker manga series in 2007-2008 and JManga added this series last year.

Chrono switched publishers to Mag Garden in 2001 and resumed the story under the title Peacemaker Kurogane. ADV Manga published the first volumes of this sequel manga in 2004-2005, and ADV Films also released the television anime adaptation. After ADV Manga stopped publishing the series, Tokyopop licensed and re-released four of the six volumes in the series before the company shut down its North American publishing division in 2011. JManga had licensed Peacemaker Kurogane for digital release, but they also closed their doors earlier this year.
