Takashi Ikeda's high school manga inspired 2009 TV anime

North American manga publisher One Peace Books confirmed with ANN on Friday that it will release Takashi Ikeda's Whispered Words manga on May 13, 2014. The book will retail for US$16.95.

Ikeda's Sasameki Koto yuri manga revolves around Sumika, a popular high school honors student who has a secret she does not reveal to anyone: she loves her classmate Ushio. Sumika hears that Ushio is also "a girl who likes girls," but Sumika's feelings have yet to be reciprocated.

This "school drama manga depicting a fresh look at bittersweet adolescence" ran in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine from 2007 to 2011, and Media Factory published nine compiled book volumes. The manga inspired a television anime that aired in 2009, as well as a screen-kissing iPhone app. Crunchyroll streamed the anime outside Japan as it aired.

Update: One Peace Books confirmed with ANN that Amazon's listing for the release is correct.
