Drag-on Dragoon prequel slated for Japan in December

The North American and United Kingdom branches of Square Enix announced on Wednesday that they will release the Drakengard 3 role-playing game (titled Drag-on Dragoon 3 in Japan) next year for US$49.99.

Square Enix describes the story:

A prequel to the original Drakengard, Drakengard 3 transports players to a medieval world where six sisters wield special magical abilities as the "Intoners." These sisters have brought peace to the earth with their power to manipulate magic through song. Harmony is disrupted, however, when the eldest sister, Zero, attempts to murder her younger sisters with the help of her dragon companion, Mikhail. As the story progresses, players find themselves in a battle to unravel the mystery of Zero and learn her true intentions.

The game will debut in Japan on December 19, after initially being scheduled for October 31. Japan will have a 10th Anniversary Box which will include the Drag-on Dragoon World Inside production design collection, a chip music CD, the "History Films" bonus video content on Blu-ray, a Drag-on Dragoon novel prelude, a postcard book, and a download content code.

Two manga adaptations based on the game are running in Square Enix's Young Gangan and Big Gangan magazines.
