Spike Chunsoft's visual novel thriller gets 1st English release after 20 years

Aksys Games announced on Friday that it has released Spike Chunsoft's Kamaitachi no Yoru visual novel thriller for iOS devices under the title Banshee's Last Cry. The visual novel is available now on the Apple's App Store for US$3.99.

Aksys Games describes the visual novel as follows:

Banshee's Last Cry is a suspenseful visual novel and choose-your-own-adventure story that takes readers on a deadly ride of murder and deception. While staying at a hotel around a ski resort, vacationers find themselves caught up in a murderous “whodunit” game when a guest winds up dead. With the lodge completely snowed in and no escape, they will have to use all their cunning to solve this mystery and protect themselves from being the next victim! Local legend tells of a banshee whose screams can rip through flesh, but, is the killer really a deadly monster or the work of a madman?

The game has more than 30 endings and includes music.

Kazuya Asano and Takemaru Abiko (The Starship Damrey) developed the game for the Super Famicom (Super NES) in 1994. The game has since been ported in Japan to the PlayStation, Game Boy Advance, PC, Virtual Console, and mobile phones, but it has not had an official English release until now.

A sequel game, titled Shin Kamaitachi no Yoru: 11-ninme no Suspect, shipped for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in December 2011.
