Glee's Chris Colfer & Ron Perlman to Voice Robodog

Gnomeo & Juliet animation director helms family adventure at Captain Harlock's Marza Animation Planet

Actors Chris Colfer (Glee, Struck By Lightning) and Ron Perlman (Beauty and the Beast, Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy, Pacific Rim) will voice characters in Robodog, the first original feature from Sega Sammy Holdings subsidiary Marza Animation Planet (Captain Harlock, Konchū Monogatari Mitsubachi Hutch - Yūki no Melody). Henry F. Anderson III (Gnomeo & Juliet animation director) is directing the film, which is in pre-production with voice work to begin on February 1.

Marza described the film as a "heartwarming family adventure about two dogs that couldn't be more different from one another. One is a bright and energetic Robotic dog and the other, an old and grumpy real dog who's seen it all. The unlikely duo make a classic odd couple as they embark on an adventure of a lifetime as they learn about their place in the world and the true nature of friendship."

This will be Colfer's first major animation voice role, although he guest-starred as his Glee character Kurt Hummel in The Cleveland Show and voiced a canine character in the CG Marmaduke film. Perlman has voiced many animated and live-action/CG characters in Archer, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Teen Titans, Adventure Time, Tangled, Afro Samurai, Batman: The Animated Series, and more.

Robert Reece and William Schneider wrote the film's script, Paul Wang (Astro Boy, TMNT) is producing this film, and Tom Finan (Mr. Peabody & Sherman) is editing. Timeless Films is pitching the film to distributors at the European Film Market (February 6-14) in Berlin.
