NHK to Air Nandaka Velonica Anime Shorts in March

NHK's official website unveiled the Nandaka Velonica (Kind of Velonica) television anime on Thursday. Kintalo. (seen right) and Kōhei Kawaguchi — two comedians known for doing impressions — will play the titular character Velonica and the boy she encounters on Earth, respectively.
Michiya Katō (Odenkun, Bihada Ichizoku) is directing the anime at animation studio Cyclone Graphics, and also provided the original character designs. Shinji Takeuchi is adapting Katou's designs for the anime, and is serving as chief animation director as well. Kouji Ueno (Fantastic Children, Perspektivenbox) is scoring the music, and Furitsuke Kagyō air:man provided the choreography for Velonica's dancing. Atsuko Kashiwagi and Keisuke Dobashi will be supervising the production of the anime.
The children's anime revolves around Velonica, a high-handed and ultra-selfish little alien girl on the Galaxy Network, who begins to cause havoc on Earth. After a “fated encounter” with an Earthling boy, Velonica wavers between a possible budding romance with the boy and her dedication to the arts.
The anime will run daily except for weekends from March 10 to 21, and NHK has listed the titles for all 10 episodes:
