Lost in Translation
Cinema Today reported that actress and former AKB48 idol Atsuko Maeda will play the heroine of the upcoming film Eight Rangers 2. The super sentai parody film, which stars boy band KANJANI 8 as the Eight Rangers, is slated for release in Japan this summer.
Maeda's character is Jun Saigo, a magazine reporter who investigates the Eight Rangers, suspecting they might be involved in Eight City's recent case of disappearances. The film's producer noted that she was cast for her ability to show heart-wrenching tears while acting.
Maeda graduated from AKB48 in 2012.
