Female Assassin Manga Azumi Ends

posted on by Karen Ressler
Yū Koyama launched the series in 1994

This year's 5th issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior, which ships on Friday, will announce that Yū Koyama's manga series Azumi will end in the magazine's next issue, which ships on February 28. The issue also promises a big surprise announcement.

Koyama began Azumi in 1994, and it won the Excellence Prize at the first ACA Media Arts Festival, Manga Division in 1997. The series has since been adapted into two live-action movies, both of which were released in North America by Urban Vision, and a stage play.

The story follows Azumi, a girl raised by a clandestine group to be an assassin in feudal Japan.

Update: The original Azumi (written as: あずみ) series ended in 2008 and a "part 2" titled AZUMI started in 2009. The advertisement states that the upcoming final chapter will be an ending for the entire series.
