The videos declares that after the transition from friend to lover, this new game chronicles your continuing love life with a girlfriend. "Spring 2014 is the season of love. You can see their three smiling faces again." The videos then introduces each of the three girls in turn.

You can take photos, go anywhere on a date, and travel. You and your virtual girlfriend can go on a trip to real-life spots throughout Japan, such as Nikkō and Hakone. Plus, there are special event that only happen on these trips. You can pause the game in the middle of an event and pick things up later. The "Skinship mode" lets you interact with your girlfriend by touching the screen.

The new version updates the interface design for improved controls and readability. You can receive different seals from the places you visit, as well as (virtual) local accessories and mobile device straps for your girlfriend. If you achieve objectives, you can get exclusive illustrations. You can also transfer your data from the earlier DS games.

New Love Plus+ is an "evolved version" of New LovePlus virtual girlfriend game. The new game's theme is "field trips," and players can visit famous sightseeing spots such as Tochigi Prefecture's Nikkō and Kinugawa with their virtual girlfriends.

The game will be released in three different 3DS XL (sold as LL in Japan) variant packs. Each deluxe pack will retail for 32,000 yen (about US$320). The standalone game will retail for 5,700 yen (US$57) or 5,200 yen (US$52) to download.
