Dragon Quest Series Creator: Dragon Quest XI Is in Production

Yuji Horii wants to play new game "on big screen" for franchise's 30th anniversary

Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii revealed on the FM West Tokyo Radio program Mangaku N-Channel SP that the next Dragon Quest game in production is Dragon Quest XI. He noted that Dragon Quest XI is aimed for the series' 30th anniversary, which is 2016. No other details were announced, but Horii mentioned that he would like to play the new title "on a big screen."

The Dragon Quest X Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online MMORPG was released for the Wii U last year after launching for the Wii in 2012. Dragon Quest VII was re-released in North America on iOS last month.

Square Enix has filed trademarks for "Shinra Company," "The Seeds of Salvation," "Luminaries of the Legendary Line," "Dragon Sky," "Circle of Mana," "Occult Maiden," "Star Ocean," and "Slimeshot."
