Wandering Son's Shimura to Launch Koiiji Manga in August

posted on by Kyle Cardine
New manga series will launch in Kiss magazine.

The September issue of Kodansha's Kiss magazine is announcing on Friday that manga creator Takako Shimura will launch a new manga series Koiiji (Love Appetite) in the following issue on August 25.

The story follows a girl named Mame, whose family runs a public bath. She has held on to feelings of unrequited love for her childhood friend for ten years. The title is a pun on "Kuiiji," a word for gluttony.

Shimura ended her Wandering Son (Hōrō Musuko) and Aoi Hana (Sweet Blue Flowers) manga last year.

Fantagraphics is releasing the Wandering Son manga in North America, and the company published the sixth hardcover volume in January.

Wandering Son inspired an 11-episode television anime series from AIC that aired on Fuji TV's late night Noitamina programming block in 2011. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. Sweet Blue Flowers also inspired an 11-episode anime series that Crunchyroll streamed as it aired in Japan. Right Stuf licensed the series in 2012 and released it on DVD last year.

Typo fixed, thanks Merida.
