Koei Tecmo Games Absorbs Gust Game Development Company

posted on by Karen Ressler
Merger will go into effect on October 1

Koei Tecmo Holdings announced on Monday that it will merge its subsidiary game development company Gust and Koei Tecmo Games into one company. The merger will go into effect on October 1.

The company stated that intellectual property is becoming increasingly important with the rapid growth of the industry, thanks to mobile games and other new hardware. With the merger, the company hopes to streamline its processes. Gust will be dissolved after the merger date, but the "Gust Nagano Development Department" will continue working on its existing series as well as new works within Koei Tecmo Games.

Koei Tecmo Games acquired Gust as a subsidiary in 2011. Gust is the studio behind the Ar Tonelico and Atelier video game series. NISA released all three Ar Tonelico and several of the Atelier games in North America, including the spin-off Atelier series Mana Khemia. Gust's Atelier Escha & Logy game inspired a television anime earlier this year.
