Gurazeni Baseball Manga to End This Month (Updated)

posted on by Kyle Cardine
New series to start next month

Yūji Moritaka and Keiji Adachi's baseball manga Gurazeni will end in this year's 39th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Morning magazine on Thursday. However, the same issue will announce that a new series titled Gurazeni: Tokyo Dome-hen will start in the magazine's 43rd issue, which ships on September 25. The magazine also revealed that Moritaka and Adachi will pen a special 24-page spinoff one-shot, titled "Natsunosuke ga Pro Hairisuru Made" (Until Natsunosuke Enters the Pros), in the 41st issue on September 11.

Gurazeni focuses on a baseball team that operates as a highly-stratified society and where the player's performance determines his annual salary. The story follows an eight-year relief pitcher with an odd left-handed side-arm throw as he fights to survive under the team's strict system.

Moritaka and Adachi began serializing the series in 2010. The manga won the best general manga award in the 37th Kodansha Manga Awards last year.

Update: Added information about special chapter in September 11 issue.
