Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura Debuts New Hatsune Miku Video

SE's Visual Works makes video that debuted at NYC gallery on Wednesday

Visual Works, the CG movie production department of game developer Square Enix, premiered a new video of Vocaloid virtual idol Hatsune Miku in New York City on Wednesday. This collaboration with Miku's Crypton Future Media debuted at Wednesday's media reception party for the "Hatsune Miku Art Exhibition Universal Positivity" at the event space Wallplay.

Crypton Future Media President Hiroyuki Itō and Square Enix game creator/designer Tetsuya Nomura (Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts franchises) introduced the video during Wednesday's party. Nomura said that when the offer for a Hatsune Miku collaboration first came, he wondered why he was asked, given that the genre is different from the usual works he has created in the past. However, since this is a collaboration in an unfamiliar territory for him, he then mused that he can do something truly interesting.

The gallery event will run from October 9 to October 19 as part of this year's Hatsune Miku Expo.

Famitsu posted more images from the new video and Wednesday's preview of the gallery.
