Koei Tecmo also announces Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 for December

Koei Tecmo Games announced during its "Romance of the Three Kingdoms 30th Anniversary Announcement" event on Tuesday that its Omega Force team is working on a new installment in the Shin Sangokumusō (Dynasty Warriors) action game franchise.

Koei Tecmo also announced a number of other games, including the Sangokushi Sō Sō Den Online (Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Legend of Cao Cao Online) and Sangokushi Region (Romance of the Three Kingdoms Region) smartphone games, each slated for a 2015 release. The company also announced Sangokushi 13 (Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13), the 13th installment in its long-running strategy game series. Koei Tecmo is developing the game for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC, and will release it on December 10 (the same release day as the first Romance of the Three Kingdoms game in 1985).

KOEI released the first Sangoku Musō (Dynasty Warriors) game in 1997 for the PlayStation as a spinoff of its Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy game franchise. Since then, it has released seven more games in the main series, and numerous spinoffs (including the Samurai Warriors series). Many of the spinoffs involve collaborations with other franchises, such as Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage, One Piece Pirate Warriors, and Hyrule Warriors. Square Enix released the Dragon Quest Heroes spinoff in Japan on February 26, and is slated for release in North America this year. The Arslan Senki x Musou game, based on Hiromu Arakawa and Yoshiki Tanaka's The Heroic Legend of Arslan (Arslan Senki) manga is slated to ship in Japan this fall.
