Medical Manga Kōnodori Gets Live-Action Show Starring Gou Ayano

Drama about obstetrician to premiere on TBS in October

A live-action television drama adaptation of Yū Suzunoki's Kōnodori (The Stork) manga has been green-lit. The series will premiere on TBS in October, and will air every Friday at 10:00 p.m.

Suzunoki's original manga centers around obstetrician Sakura Kōnotori, who is also a jazz pianist by night. The manga depicts his life, and the lives of the resident doctors and medical interns in the OB/GYN department that Kōnotori leads.

The currently announced cast is as follows:

Yō Yoshida as Rumiko Komatsu

Kentarō Sakaguchi as Eri Shirakawa

Yusuke Hirayama as Hiroshi Kase

Nana Seino as Mayumi TSUNODA

Toyomoto Akinaga as Takuya Funakoshi

Kazuyuki Asano as Director Ōzawa

Noriko Eguchi as Akiko Mukai

Sayaka Yamaguchi as Emi Arai

Gen Hoshino as Haruki Shinomiya

Nao Ōmori as Takayuki Imahashi

Nobuhiro Doi (Season of the Sun, Nemuri no Mori) and Fuminori Kaneko (Ikebukuro West Gate Park) are directing the series, and Mutsumi Yamamoto is writing the scripts. Shinya Kiyozuka is supervising the piano themes.

Suzunoki launched the manga in Kodansha's Morning magazine in August 2012. Kodansha published the manga's ninth compiled book volume on June 23.
