2 more video skits slated for early March, April for film opening on July 2

The official website of the live-action film adaptation of Kazuya Konomoto's Setoutsumi manga began streaming a short movie featuring a skit on Thursday. The skit video, titled "Kendama," features Utsumi (Sousuke Ikematsu) recording Seto (Masaki Suda) trying to succeed at Kendama.

The site also revealed a new poster visual for the film.

The staff of the film will release two more short video skits featuring the film's leads. The second skit, titled "Timing," will debut in early March. The third skit, titled "Standing Ovation," will debut in early April. The film will open in Japan on July 2.

Sousuke Ikematsu (The Last Samurai, live-action Tetsujin 28-go, Tomehane! Suzuri Kōkō Shodōbu) and Masaki Suda (Kamen Rider W, live-action Daily Lives of High School Boys, Princess Jellyfish, Assassination Classroom) will star in the film's lead roles. Ikematsu (pictured below, upper left) will play Utsumi, and Suda (upper right) will play Seto.

The film's additional cast includes:

  • Shōhei Uno
  • Takuji Suzuki
  • Amane Okayama
  • Eiki Narita
  • Isao Okumura
  • Kumi Ryū
  • Motomi Makiguchi

Tatsushi Ōmori (Germanium no Yoru, The Ravine of Goodbye) is directing the film. Filming began last fall.

The manga revolves around Kansai-area high school boys Seto and Utsumi, particularly their completely normal but comedic chats after school.

Konomoto launched Setoutsumi in Akita Shoten's Bessatsu Shonen Champion magazine in 2013. Akita Shoten published the fifth volume on February 8. The manga was nominated for the 18th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize "Reader Award" in 2014.
