Kamisama Kiss Manga Gets New Anime DVD in December With Fanbook

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga ended on Friday; Julietta Suzuki to publish new work this fall

This year's 12th issue of Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine announced on Friday that Julietta Suzuki's Kamisama Kiss (Kamisama Hajimemashita) manga will inspire a new original anime DVD (OAD) on December 20. The anime is tentatively titled "Kamisama, Kekkon Zenya" (The God at the Eve of Marriage), and will tell the stories of Nanami, Tomoe, Mizuki, and Kurama as Nanami's graduation from both school and the shrine are drawing near.

The DVD is being bundled with "Kamisama Hajimemashita 25.5," which is an official fanbook. The fanbook will include a 32-page epilogue manga by Suzuki tentatively titled "Sono Ato no Futari" (The Couple After That). Additionally, it will include full-color illustrations, summaries of volumes 14-25, and an interview with Suzuki.

The manga ended its run in the 12th issue of Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine on Friday, and the final page announced that Suzuki will publish a new work this fall.

The issue also included a "Kamisama Hajimemashita Memorial Fanbook" that included color illustrations, a character relationship chart, and other information about the series.

Additionally, the issue revealed that this year's 13th and 14th issues of Hana to Yume will each include a bonus "Kamisama Conclusion Commemoration Enjoyable DVD." The first DVD will include a round-table discussion with the anime's voice actors and a digest of the fourth OAD, and the second DVD will include a digest of the stage musical, an illustration gallery, drawing lessons from Suzuki, and behind-the-scenes video from TMS about animating the OADs.

Suzuki launched the manga in Hana to Yume in 2008, and Hakusensha released the 24th volume on April 20. Viz Media published the 20th volume in North America in February.

The series inspired two anime seasons, and Funimation streamed both seasons as they aired in Japan, and also released both seasons on home video.

The manga also has an ongoing series of original anime DVDs (OADs) that are shipping with the manga's compiled volumes. The manga's "past arc" was adapted into two OAD episodes that shipped with the manga's 22nd and 23rd volumes. The third episode, titled "Kamisama, Hanayome ni Naru" (The God Becomes a Bride), shipped with a limited edition of the manga's 24th volume on April 20, and the fourth episode, titled "Kamisama, Mukae ni Iku" (I'll Meet Up With the God), will ship with a limited edition of the manga's 25th (and final) volume on August 19.
