Ah My Buddha's Toshinori Sogabe Launches New Scrapped Princess Manga

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Adaptation runs on Comic Clear website

Kadokawa's Comic Clear website launched a new manga based on the Scrapped Princess novels by Ichiro Sakaki (Chaika the Coffin Princess, Outbreak Company) on October 14. Toshinori Sogabe (Ah My Buddha, Amaenaideyo!!) is illustrating the series based on Yukinobu Azumi's original character designs.

The series' first chapter is available for free on the Comic Clear website. The next chapter will debut on November 11.

Tokyopop previously published all three volumes of Go Yabuki's 2002 manga adaptation in English. Tokyopop also published part of Sakaki's original novel series, and described the story of the first novel:

Fourteen years ago, a dark and devastating prophecy was revealed: a girl will bring about destruction and death and the world will lie in ruins. A decree was handed down to destroy this baby girl and all evidence of her prophecy to come but despite all efforts, the myth lives on...and so does the Lost Princess. Fourteen years later, the prophesized destroyer of the world is alive and well! Will she doom all and destroy the world or will she defy the gods and prove them wrong?

Sakaki published the original 13-novel series and the 5-volume Scrapped Princess Supplement series from 1999-2005. The novels inspired an anime adaptation in 2003 from Studio BONES. Bandai Entertainment released the series in North America, but its license expired in 2011.
