Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry Anime Film's English-Subtitled Trailer Streamed

Odex to host fan screening in Singapore on June 3; film also opens in Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines

Southeast Asian film distributor Odex began streaming an English-subtitled trailer for the Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry anime film on Thursday. The company will screen the film at Golden Village in Singapore on June 8, and at Golden Screen in Malaysia on July 27.

Odex will host a fan screening of the film in Singapore on June 3 at the Golden Village Plaza Singapura. Theatergoers who attend the screening will get a porcelain cup, an A4 clear folder, two A2 posters, three character bromides, and the film's storyboard booklet that was distributed in Japanese screenings of the film.

Odex will also screen the film with CGV Cinemas, Cinemaxx, and Platinum in Indonesia, and with SM Cinema in the Philippines. The company hasn't yet revealed a screening date for those countries.

The film opened in Japan on May 6, and earned 53,888,700 yen (about US$474,848) in its first weekend to rank at #10.

  • Rie Kugimiya as Happy
  • Yūichi Nakamura as Gray Fullbuster
  • Sayaka Ohara as Erza Scarlet
  • Satomi Satou as Wendy
  • Yui Horie as Charles
  • Makoto Furukawa as King Animus, the king of Stella Kingdom
  • Aoi Yūki as Sonya, an aide to King Animus
  • Jiro Saito as Zash Caine, the minister of state of Stella Kingdom

Tatsuma Minamikawa (episode director for Aldnoah.Zero, Attack on Titan, Haganai NEXT) directed the film at A-1 Pictures. Shoji Yonemura returned from the previous two television anime series to write the script, Yuuko Yamada (chief animation director for Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East, Persona 3 the Movie #3 Falling Down) was the character designer and chief animation director, and Yasuharu Takanashi returned from the previous anime series and Fairy Tail Zero to compose the music. GAGA is distributing the film. The two-member unit Polka Dots performed the film's theme song "What You Are."
