New omnibus series centers on girl who has unexpected meeting in garden

The July issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Flowers magazine revealed details on Saturday for the new manga series by Kids on the Slope/Sakamichi no Apollon author Yuki Kodama.

The new omnibus series is titled Chiisako no Niwa (Chiisako's Garden), and it centers on a girl who has an unexpected meeting in the garden of her house. The official Twitter account for Monthly Flowers posted a preview image for the manga on Saturday.

Kodama will launch the new manga series in the magazine's September issue on July 28.

The magazine also confirmed that Yuu Watase's planned Byakko version of her Fushigi Yûgi manga will be titled Fushigi Yūgi: Byakko Senki. The manga will debut in the magazine's October issue on August 28.

Kodama recently concluded her Tsukikage Baby manga (pictured at right) on March 28. She launched the manga in Monthly Flowers in November 2012.

Kodama launched her nine-volume Sakamichi no Apollon (Kids on the Slope) manga in Monthly Flowers in 2007, and ended the series in March 2012. Shogakukan published a one-volume spinoff manga titled Sakamichi no Apollon: Bonus Track in November 2012.

The manga inspired a television anime adaptation on Fuji TV's late-night Noitamina programming block in April 2012. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired under the title Kids on the Slope, and Sentai Filmworks released the series on home video in 2013.

The manga is inspiring a live-action film slated for 2018.
