Konami's Metal Gear Survive Game Delayed to Early 2018

posted on by Karen Ressler

Video game news website Polygon reported on Tuesday that Konami revealed at E3 that its Metal Gear Survive game is now slated for early 2018. The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC game was previously slated for sometime in 2017, but it has been delayed to give the developers time to improve the game's quality. The game is playable at E3.

The game's story is set after Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and follows members of Militaires Sans Frontières who are transported to an alternate universe where they must battle a biological threat. Konami calls the game "a new addition to the Metal Gear Solid V experience."

Metal Gear Survive is the first Metal Gear console game to be announced since series creator Hideo Kojima's departure from Konami. The rights to the Metal Gear Solid name remain with Konami, and Kojima confirmed that he had no involvement with Metal Gear Survive.

Konami's KPE also developed a pachi-slot (pachinko/slot) game titled Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater since Kojima's departure. The game launched on October 17.
