Manga launched online on Wednesday

Shogakukan's online magazine Yawaraka Spirits launched a new manga series titled Saitsuyo Densetsu Nakane (Strongest Legend Nakane) on Wednesday. Motomu Uehara and Kazuya Arai are drawing the manga based on Kenji Yokoi's story and with collaboration from Nobuyuki Fukumoto on Wednesday

The manga centers on a tall young man named Shūhei Nakane who really wants "likes" on his social media posts.

Uehara and Arai are also drawing the art for the 1-nichi Gaishutsuroku Hanchō spinoff of Fukumoto's Kaiji manga. The spinoff launched in December 2016 and the second volume shipped on September 6.

The original Kodansha Manga Award-winning Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji manga ran from 1996-1999. There have been several sequels, most recently Tobaku Datenroku Kaiji One Poker-Hen, which began in 2013 and ended in September. A new sequel, Tobaku Datenroku Kaiji 24-Oku Dasshutsu-Hen is now serializing in Weekly Young Magazine. The original series has also inspired three spinoff manga.

Kaiji has also inspired two television anime series and two live-action films with director Tōya Satō (live-action Gokusen, Gatchaman) and main star Tatsuya Fujiwara (Death Note's Light, Battle Royale's Shuya). Crunchyroll is streaming both anime seasons.

A variety program based on the manga will launch on December 28.
