Family comedy manga about single father, 8 children launched in 2004

The June issue of Futabasha's Manga Town magazine revealed on Wednesday that Naoki Shigeno will end the Uchi no Daikazoku four-panel comedy manga on June 5.

The manga centers on the life of a large family of nine living in Chiba. Shigeo, the 50-year-old father, raises his children as a single father after his wife passes away. The story begins when Aiko, the eldest of the eight siblings, has to stop studying at her university in Hokkaido to help out in the house after their mother passes away.

Shigeno launched the manga in 2004. The manga has run in Manga Town Original, Manga Town, and Comic High!. Futabasha published the manga's 14th compiled book volume on April 12.

Shigeno's Nobunaga no Shinobi historical comedy manga has inspired three television anime seasons. The anime's first season premiered in October 2016 and the second season premiered in April 2017. The third season premiered on April 6, and is currently airing. Crunchyroll streamed the first two seasons as they aired, and is also streaming the third season.
