New Aphorism Manga Launches in Shonen Gangan

posted on by Karen Ressler
Original survival horror manga ran from 2008-2016

Karuna Kujō launched a new Aphorism series titled Do Aphorism (Bow and Arrow Aphorism) in the July issue of Monthly Shonen Gangan on June 12.

Like the original manga, the new series centers on Naraka High School, a school that only admits students who can see an island in the sky. While it is allegedly a prestige school where graduates are guaranteed to get excellent government jobs, the students are forced to fight for survival in order to graduate.

The new main character is Hiroshi, a 15-year-old boy who can see the island in the sky. He and his friends enter the school as a test of courage but he alone returns.

Kujo began the original series in 2008 in Square Enix's Gangan Wing magazine, and transferred it to the Gangan Online website after Gangan Wing ceased publication in 2009. The manga ended in 2016 and Square Enix shipped 14 compiled book volumes for the series. Yen Press released the full series digitally.
